Why We Still Need October and Why We Can’t Wait for It
We need to be lifting this issue out of the shadows not because of the latest horrifying news but because there are survivors living with abuse every day who deserve to be connected with resources and support. Because we all deserve healthy relationships and safe communities and we all can learn how to recognize, respond to, and prevent domestic violence. But we don’t need to wait all summer to learn about domestic violence. We can’t wait all summer to start talking about domestic violence. We need to have these conversations often and ongoing.
What Lights Us Up Can Burn Us Out
Focusing on the wellbeing of our employees is necessary for a sustainable organization and is the only way our movement can be sustainable and continue to progress and evolve.
Risk vs. Reward: What Prevents us from Preventing Gender-based Violence?
I challenge all of us to think about the ways we can actively confront attitudes and beliefs that permit violence to occur to so many people. How do we play a role in shifting our company or community norms to silently condoning imbalances of power and gender-based violence to a community that loudly and emphatically condemns it? How do we create communities- or perhaps even a world- where people are held accountable with compassion and survivors are believed and supported.
